Downtown Chilliwack is the historical centre of our community and plays a large role in the fond memories of many. As we all know, there are no fast and simple solutions to the challenges of renewing a city centre. Achieving our shared vision for Downtown Chilliwack is not one that can be accomplished by government alone. It will require a collaborative effort from our entire community.
The Industrial Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw was adopted in 2011 to allow new industrial buildings to qualify for savings on industrial property taxes for 5 years.
Revitalization of the downtown is a priority for Council and City Hall. In 2004, the Community Charter was introduced, offering a new revitalization tax exemption opportunity. As a result, the City of Chilliwack established a downtown revitalization tax exemption program.
