Second Round of Consultation Underway for Chilliwack’s Active Transportation Plan May 3, 2022

Chilliwack, BC: The City of Chilliwack is seeking feedback from the community to improve the safety and accessibility of Chilliwack’s pedestrian network. Following the first phase of engagement, staff have prepared a draft Active Transportation Plan for the public’s review and feedback. A follow-up survey is available at engagechilliwack.com/activetransportation until May 19 for residents to share their feedback. Residents who complete the survey will have the option to enter to win a $100 Visa gift card.

Active transportation includes any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, or rolling using a skateboard, in-line skates, wheelchair, or other wheel-based forms of human-powered transportation. This Active Transportation Plan focuses on the walking-related components of active transportation, including sidewalks, multiuse pathways, crossings, and other related infrastructure and policy improvements that will make it safer and easier to travel by foot or personal mobility device.

“We are developing the draft Active Transportation plan to support a more balanced, accessible, and efficient transportation system in Chilliwack, through investments in active and sustainable transportation,” said Mayor Popove. “After the first phase of consultation, we incorporated a range of community suggestions into the draft plan, and now we want to know if this draft reflects what our residents want to see.”

In addition to the online survey, staff will also be available in-person at the following dates and locations to answer questions and gather feedback:

  • May 4, 1-5:30 pm at Transit Hub (Yale Road)
  • May 7, 10 am – 2 pm at Save-On-Foods on Promontory Road
  • May 14, 10 am – 2 pm at Peach Park
  • May 15, 10 am – 2 pm at Vedder Trail (updated date as of May 6, 2022)
